SERVICES
HVAC Solutions, Inc. provides a fully detailed testing and balancing report showing all the data collected during the testing and balancing activities in a “then and now” format so you can visualize the system’s performance and power consumption, schedule maintenance program, and pinpoint any potential problems. Included in this report are drawings of the different areas monitored, tested, and adjusted showing the environment conditions they were left in, equipment certifications and calibration data.
HVAC System Cleaning and Restoration
Restoration of HVAC system components is the process of preparation, refurbishment, resurfacing, repair, or replacement of any surface common to the air stream. Restoration procedures must only be performed after mechanical cleaning.
Air side surfaces of HVAC systems found to be compromised during the HVAC cleanliness evaluation or during cleaning must be documented for restoration or replacement to industry standards, as required.
HVAC system components subjected to catastrophic events such as fire, smoke, flood, or water-damage must be subject to restoration procedures. Component degradation that results in compromised system performance must be corrected through restoration procedures if possible.
HVAC component replacement must take place if acceptable cleanliness levels cannot be achieved through mechanical cleaning and restoration methods.
HVAC Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing
Testing and balancing involves the testing, adjusting, and balancing of HVAC system components so that the entire system provides airflows that are in accordance with the design specifications. Typical components and system parameters tested include:
- all supply, return, exhaust, and outdoor airflow rates
- control settings and operation
- air temperatures
- fan speeds and power consumption
- filter or collector resistance
The test and balance agency or contractor coordinates with the control contractor to accomplish three goals: verify and ensure the most effective system operation within
the design specifications, identify and correct any problems, and ensure the safety of the system. A test and balance report should provide a complete record of the design, preliminary measurements, and final test data. The report should include any discrepancies between the test data and the design specifications, along with reasons for those discrepancies. To facilitate future performance checks and adjustments, appropriate records should be kept on all damper positions, equipment capacities, control types and locations, control settings and operating logic, airflow rates, static pressures, fan speeds, and horsepowers.
Ductwork Pressure & Leakage Testing
As it is required in most construction projects where new HVAC systems are installed or existing ones are modified, sheetmetal ducts should be tested for leakeage and to ensure that their construction was done according to specifications and/or SMACNA standards. We provide ductwork pressure and leakage testing at various levels of leakage and seal classes as well as pressures. We pressure test ductwork in the range of 0.5 in. w.g. through 20 in. w.g.
Pump/motor shaft Alignment
The purpose of shaft alignment is to minimize the vibration resulting from forces transmitted across the coupling. The goal is to have both shafts rotating on a common axis, referred to as collinear. All misalignment of shaft centerlines (i.e., deviation from the collinear condition) can be described in terms of offset and angularity.
Proper alignment of the pump shaft with the driver can reduce vibration and significantly improve reliability. For appropriate applications, the time, expertise and instruments needed to achieve precision alignment (tolerances of less than 0.005 in) will prevent seal leakage and extend bearing life.
HEPA Filter Certification
Most clean/controlled environments, specially in the pharmaceutical industry, require the use of HEPA terminal filters. Our personnel and equipment are fully prepared to inspect, repair and certify any type of HEPA filter
Sound & Vibration Testing
HVAC Solutions, Inc. is the FIRST & ONLY N.E.B.B. certified firm in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean region to perform sound and vibration testing. We are pleased to offer a wide variety of acoustic & vibration testing protocols and consulting services worldwide. Below is a list of some of the services we provide:
- Sound pressure level measurements in standard decibel ratings (dB-A weighted) – Used for compliance with local, state, and/or federal requirements in places like:
- Auditoriums
- Libraries
- Hotel rooms
- Conference rooms
- Private offices
- Patient rooms
- Noise Surveys – Often required by HUD and other Federal agencies when properties such as houses, apartments and condominiums are located near noise sources like Airports, Train Tracks, Highways and Freeways, Manufacturing Plants, Sewage Treatment Plants, and Power Stations noise surveys are timed studies detailing the noise levels for a specific time period.
- Noise Spectrum Analysis – Used for determining what frequencies in the audio band a particular noise is coming from when measured from an adjacent house, apartment, condominium or commercial space.
- Vibration Analysis – Used for tracking down vibration coming from machinery, and sometimes to determine whether a machine assembly is in balance, ie. pumps, motors, fans, etc. . We can provide both real-time and long-term logging of vibrating structures including FFT analysis.
